Contemplative Community of Saint Edith Stein

They offer their prayers and sacrifices for the salvation of the Jewish people and that all people may come to know and belief of the fullness of salvation.

The St. Edith Stein (Teresa Benedicta of the Cross) Contemplative Community was founded on December 17, 1998 in Flatlands, Brooklyn. Then, in 2012, they were invited to move to the historic Monastery of the Precious Blood in Borough Park, Brooklyn.

This monastery was founded by the Sisters Adorers of the Precious Blood in 1910 (the first contemplative congregation in the New World, founded by Venerable Catherine Aurelia of the Precious Blood). Our contemplatives live with the Sisters Adorers still present in the monastery.

Saint Catherine of Siena Contemplative Novitiate

They offer their prayers and sacrifices so that all men may sincerely seek, love and be formed in the truth, and find their fullness in the Incarnate Word.

Living with the Saint Edith Stein Community, the Monastic Novitiate, is under the patronage of St. Catherine of Siena.

The main apostolate of both communities in the monastery, like that of all contemplatives, is the life of prayer itself. They carry out work such as translations, embroidery, ecclesiastical sewing, rosary making and other manual labor. In addition, they carry out a very qualified apostolate, the preaching of the spiritual exercises of Saint Ignatius.
